The clients brief was for a light modern kitchen but with practical and traditional elements. Also, although a painted kitchen was preferred, a contrast within in the design was requested.
A design consideration was the clients choice of appliances, a Falcon range and side by side fridge/freezer. Also the area where the units were to be sited had no windows due to an extension which provided the living area and dining area of the kitchen.
The kitchen units form a 'u' shape with a central island. On one side of the 'u' we have food storage in the form of a tall pull out larder with fridge/freezer housing next to it. Then a Butlers pantry with pull out trays and shelves inside. Then further storage units.
On the other side we have pan drawers next to the range, above which is an extractor and plate rack. Then further storage units.
Both of the above runs of units have walnut worktops which provide a dramatic contrast to the painted units.
In the centre of the kitchen we have a walnut island unit incorperating the dishwasher, sink and bins. This has a granite worktop with overhang for stools.
In the living area of the kitchen we have a painted display dresser with walnut worktop. |
