This is a Hi-Gloss kitchen with Olive Ash veneered island unit.
The client wanted a light, modern kitchen that would compliment the design of her newly built home, the front section of which was built on a curve. Other aspects to consider were the large picture window with views down a valley to an estuary harbour and out to sea, the proposed floor covering (a mix of large polished and matt tiles) and something to give a wow factor.
The client requested a high gloss finish to compliment the tiles and large windows along the front of the property. To add warmth, contrast and texture a dark wood element to the kitchen was asked for. During the design stage, due to colours being chosen for tiles and after seeing samples from Oxleaze, olive ash veneer was chosen for the contrast.
The back wall of the kitchen is on a curve with one window in where the main sink is sited. Along this wall, approx. 6m in length, we have the bulk of the kitchens requirements; food storage incl double fridge freezer, appliances, sink, hot tap, bin and wine store.
A four oven Aga with module is sited on the adjacent wall, on either side of this we have put a curved unit with glass backsplash behind the Aga.
From the left hand end of the Aga run a curved island unit returns back around towards the main furniture. This has a breakfast bar at one end, a prep. sink and when working or sitting at the island you can enjoy the views down the estuary. This also formed a major part of the clients brief.
To compliment the island we designed a curved floating sideboard which sits opposite the island. |
