. Oxleaze painted kitchens are made using exactly the same methods as our wooden kitchens. Tulipwood is used for all the external aspects of the kitchen furniture (because it is a good hardwood to paint), while veneered oak plywood is used for the internal partitions and bases.
With a traditional painted kitchen Oxleaze spray on two basecoats and then hand brush on three top coats. With the brush strokes following the grain direction of the timber, a depth of character is added that would not be present with a spray painted kitchen.
The brief for this project was to provide a kitchen with character and functionality to an extension being used as a family room with adjoining utility. The client wanted an Aga, this was housed within a false chimney breast with tiled backsplash. The width of the room allowed for a central island and an existing cupboard in the corner was converted into a walk in larder. The American fridge/freezer was housed within an open unit and a window seat added to break up the line of fitted units.
