English oak, seasoned or unseasoned, has had a diversity of uses over the centuries. Boat building, cider barrels, roof trusses and fine cabinetmaking. Its diversity extends to its grain patterns, the shining medullary rays of a quarter sawn log, the figurative grains of a crown cut log and not forgetting burr & pippy oak.
This kitchen has been designed around the Aga. A false chimney breast was added with a rustic beam, supplied by the client, and small storage cupboards built into it.
The clients for this project specified a kitchen with a free standing feel and perhaps some painted furniture. With this in mind we broke up the lines of the fitted units with chunky legs and varied the depth of certain units. We also designed a free standing Butlers Pantry and plate rack which were painted.
